Circular Economy
Circular economy and more sustainable, forward-thinking materials are at the core of Trelleborg’s DNA. We have made it our mission to enhance the performance and efficiency of products through high-performance polymer solutions that enable future-proof industrial applications and systems. Innovative material and design solutions play a crucial role in reducing emissions and optimizing resource utilization. Future material generations will become more sustainable through the use of renewable raw materials or the reuse of existing materials.
Sustainability Innovations Spotlights
We pair extensive in-house R&D capabilities with comprehensive support services to develop innovative products to meet our customers’ needs. By leveraging our expertise in materials, engineering and applications, we create responsible polymer solutions compatible with various materials and developed to meet diverse sustainability requirements.

Our Sustainability Actions
Sustainable Development Goals
The UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) include 17 key global priorities. We contribute significantly to many of these through innovative products, sustainable operations, and impactful projects at every facility, aligning with the UN SDGs.

Goal 3 - Supporting Cystic Fibrosis Patients
For over 15 years, we have been participating in and sponsoring the local “Ditzinger Lebenslauf” charity run. It's a matter of the heart, and every year, we see many employees stepping up to "run for life”. Cystic fibrosis, a hereditary disease, is caused by a gene mutation that thickens body gland secretions, impacting lung and pancreatic function.

Goal 6 – Clean Water and Sanitation
Our facility in Shanghai has started collecting and treating wastewater from cleaning equipment for reuse. Throughout this project, the local team gained valuable insights into vacuum evaporation, water measurement and various treatment methods, deepening their understanding of water treatment fundamentals.

Goal 7 - Expanding Solar Capacity
Our Malta facility added 500 photovoltaic panels, leveraging the country's abundant sunshine to enhance solar power generation. This addition builds on a previous installation of 1,200 panels in 2013, with the system now expected to produce 323,000KWh annually, covering 15% of the unit's energy needs and saving 210 tons of CO2. Another 809 panels have also been installed at a different facility, further committing to solar energy, the fastest-growing renewable source.

Goal 9 – Cutting Waste & Boosting Efficiency
At our facility in Modena, Italy, we have implemented a new system to manage the chips scrapped from our lathes, aiming to optimize space and improve environmental impact. This system offers several benefits, including reduced waste volume, decreased logistics work, enhanced safety with fewer chip movements, minimized conveyor downtime and efficient use of space both internally and externally. It can remove up to 85% of waste from production and avoid 85-90% of waste.

Goal 11 - Clean Up Woodward Park
The Fresno team in the US, along with friends and family, joined Beautify Fresno for a cleanup at Woodward Park, a gathering place cherished by local residents. Together, they collected 300 lbs. (136 kg) of trash, helping make this cherished space cleaner and more enjoyable for everyone.
