Instantaneous Closure
Instant closure of the KLAW Flip-Flap Valves delivers the crucial advantage of minimal spillage when activated.
Reduced stress on hoses or loading systems
The release mechanism is designed to limit stress on hoses, loading arm systems, fixed piping and other connections such as flange joints.
Compact and lightweight
The light weight and compact designs of KLAW ERCs are important for handling, post-activation control, maintenance, minimum footprint configuration and the enabling of a balanced system. 
This also enables KLAW ERCs to be retrofitted to any existing installation without major modifications to current configurations or structures.
Controlled release
KLAW HPU system option can control up to 10 ERCs; enabling the advantage of operational procedures.

Designed to be easily installed into existing operating Loading Arms (re-balance may be required) and fixed pipe systems.

Typical ambient scenarios
The KLAW ERC range offers protection against the consequences of the following typical scenarios.

Truck terminal or Tank Storage facilities 

• Failure to unhook truck connection at post transfer.
• Unplanned movement during transfer operation.

 

Railcar terminal or Tank Storage facilities 

• Failure to unhook railcar connection at post transfer.
• Railcar shift or shunt.

 

Vessel ship-to-ship or ship-to-shore terminal

• Vessel movement during transfer due to storm or swell.
• Vessel emergency not allowing time for standard disconnection procedure: e.g. fire.

The KLAW Emergency Release Coupling (ERC) and standard Breakaway Coupling (BAC) offers protection against the consequences of these events and avoids damage to loading arms or transfer equipment.

KLAW Emergency Release Systems are available from 1″ to 10″.

Media transfer temperatures
The KLAW ERC is also suited to Elevated product temperatures (+275°C 527°F).

Range of Cryogenic Emergency Release Couplings is also available for operating temperatures to -196°C (-320°F).

Flow rates
The KLAW ERC range has been designed to offer optimum flow rate while maintaining 100% closure.
Additional high-performance couplings providing additional flow rate capacities for specific ship loading and unloading applications are also available.
