SuperSealer Yvonne Friedl

When she’s not taking in the great outdoors, February’s SuperSealer makes sure Trelleborg customers across Europe receive the support they need. Yvonne explains how the fast-paced and dynamic environment at Trelleborg makes it a great place to work, and how she sees the ever-changing landscape across the sector as an opportunity to innovate.

Who are you?

My name is Yvonne Friedl and I’m responsible for Trelleborg’s Customer Support Team for sealing profiles, covering Europe.

When did you start this position and what are your key duties?

I started at Trelleborg way back in 2012, and I’ve worked as a Customer Support Manager for almost nine of those years! My key responsibilities include organizing the internal sales team – with its 11 members spread all over Europe – and acting as the first point of contact for customers seeking support. We’re known for the excellent support we provide, and this covers every area across our services – including for sales-driven projects. For example, I’m currently acting as the sales Project Lead for our new ERP and CRM systems.

What do you like best about working here?

I love being part of such an international team because it means I’ve become acquainted with cultures and customs from many different countries. I also enjoy the fast-paced nature of the work: every day is different, bringing with it both challenges and variety. I’m the kind of person who can’t stand knowing on Monday exactly how the rest of my week is going to pan out. Trelleborg is a wonderful place for someone like me: I feel fully supported in knowledge and skills development, and in pursuing all the exciting opportunities available.

What are the key challenges you face in your job?

Currently, our biggest challenges relate to the huge changes in the raw materials market, which have led to longer lead times and steep price increases. The challenges these market changes present also vary by the day: some days we’re troubleshooting issues surrounding packaging or machinery, and the next it’s higher prices again. With our team being spread across Europe, communication is key – and this can also be a challenge. But one silver lining of the COVID pandemic is that it’s forced us to become more creative in how we get things done, all in support of our customers.

How do you think the business in your area is going to evolve in the future? How are you preparing for this?

If there’s one thing this pandemic has taught us, it’s that predicting how the ongoing situation will develop is next to impossible. But there are a few exciting prospects that do seem promising. There’s a lot of potential in the building and construction industry, with government plans to push future housing initiatives. Increasing environmental protection and regulation of the automotive sector mean changes there, too. Our design team is poised to embrace these opportunities to innovate.

What do you do in your free time?

I’m happiest when I’m outside: I love skiing, hiking, and just taking my dog for a walk. I frequently take my camera along and like to snap a beautiful shot or two along the way. I can also frequently be found working in my garden.
