Trelleborg constructs new plant for automotive antivibration products in Romania

Trelleborg has decided that the Trelleborg Automotive business area will construct a new plant in Romania for automotive antivibration products. Construction is expected to commence during the first quarter of 2006 and the new plant is scheduled to begin production at the end of the year. The plant is expected to employ approximately 200 and generate sales of at least SEK 300 M by the end of 2009 (based on orders already booked), although it will have the capacity to double this sales figure. “The purpose of the new production facility is to move closer to markets in Eastern Europe that are growing more rapidly than those in Western Europe and to establish cost-effective production for deliveries to Western European customers,” says Trelleborg’s President and CEO Peter Nilsson. Trelleborg Automotive is the leading supplier of antivibration products to the automotive industry in both Europe and Americas. The business area has set clear plans and measures to also achieve a leading position in growth markets such as Asia and Eastern Europe.
