Portrait of Peter Huang
My career at Trelleborg began in 2008, when I joined to support the establishment of the Wuxi facility in China.

Over the past 16 years, I have grown alongside the company, advancing from Production Manager to Operations Manager and now Facility Manager. Each role expanded my perspective on manufacturing efficiency, operational performance and leadership.

Supported by Trelleborg’s commitment to talent development and global collaboration, I have seen firsthand how innovation, responsibility and a people-focused culture empower employees to reach their full potential.

What has been the most rewarding part of your career with Trelleborg so far?

For me, the most rewarding part has been the experience of building something from the ground up and seeing it grow. I joined Trelleborg in 2008 to support establishing the Wuxi facility in China. Being part of that initial phase was incredibly formative. However, the pinnacle of this path was leading the entire facility relocation project in 2023 and successfully establishing the Trelleborg Antivibration Solutions Suzhou facility. Seeing the team operate in a state-of-the-art environment that we created together gives me a feeling of immense pride and accomplishment.

How has your role at Trelleborg changed or developed over time?

My role has evolved in tandem with the company's growth in the region. I started as a Production Manager, focusing on the day-to-day operations of the manufacturing floor. As the business expanded, my role developed into an Operations Manager. This gave me a broader view of manufacturing and overall efficiency. Today, as the Facility Manager, my responsibilities encompass operational performance, long-term planning and leading our talented team. Each step has built upon the last, and Trelleborg has always supported this progression.

Can you share a specific moment or project at Trelleborg that made you feel proud of your work?

The project that makes me the proudest is the recent relocation and setup of our Suzhou facility in 2023. This monumental task involved meticulous planning, logistics and the dedication of the entire team. We successfully moved the entire operation and established a more modern, efficient and capable facility without disrupting our service to customers. Walking through the new facility for the first time and seeing our vision become a reality was a truly proud moment.

From your perspective, what makes the culture at Trelleborg special?

Two key aspects make our culture special. First is the strong commitment to our core values like customer focus, innovation and responsibility. These are not just words on a wall; they guide our daily decisions. Second is the "local to local" management philosophy. This approach empowers us on the ground, fosters local talent and allows our facility to be agile and responsive to the specific needs of our market and employees. It creates a culture of ownership and trust.

How has being part of a global team influenced your work and personal growth?

Being part of a global team has been invaluable for my development. It exposes me to diverse perspectives and best practices from around the world. Through Trelleborg's global training programs, such as those in manufacturing excellence and leadership development, I acquired skills and knowledge that I directly apply to my role here in Suzhou. This global connection provides a constant source of learning and inspiration, pushing me to think bigger and improve continuously.

As Trelleborg continues to grow, what opportunities have you discovered for your own development?

Trelleborg's growth consistently creates opportunities for my own development. The company's expansion from Wuxi to our new, larger facility in Suzhou is a prime example. This growth created the need for more advanced leadership, strategic planning and management skills. The company's investment in training and its philosophy of promotion from within have provided a clear path for my career progression over the last 16 years.

In what ways do you feel your role at Trelleborg allows you to shape the future of industry?

My role allows me to shape the future of our industry in two main ways. First, by leading a modern facility focused on innovation, we develop and manufacture advanced vibration technology solutions that help our customers improve the performance and sustainability of their own products. Second, by embracing our responsibility toward sustainable development in our operations, we set a standard for modern, responsible manufacturing. We do not just make products; we build a smarter, more sustainable facility for the future.

Describe a time you felt truly inspired by your colleagues or the work we do here

I felt most inspired during the facility relocation project in 2023. The entire team, from engineers to the production floor staff, showed incredible dedication and resilience. We faced countless challenges, but everyone came together with a solution-oriented mindset. They fully embraced our value of performance. Seeing my colleagues go above and beyond, supporting each other to ensure a smooth transition and a successful launch of the new Suzhou facility, was truly inspiring. It reinforced my belief in our team and the strength of our shared culture.
