We spoke with Allison Gudel, Manager of the Technology and Innovation Material Lab in Fort Wayne, IN, about her career at Trelleborg. She shared insights into how the company’s supportive culture, global opportunities, and commitment to continuous learning have shaped her professional growth and success.
I started at Trelleborg as a Material Laboratory Technician right here in Fort Wayne, IN. Stepping into the lab was an exciting first step, and from there, I found so many chances to learn and expand my skills. The encouragement and support I received made it easier to take on new roles and responsibilities. Over time, I grew more confident and was able to move into the manager position for the lab.

From day one, Trelleborg has always prioritized employee growth. Whether it was hands-on projects, learning from coworkers, or connecting with mentors, I was never short of opportunities to build my expertise. That support really helped me focus on my goals and keep moving forward.

What aspects do you think make Trelleborg an attractive employer?
What stands out to me about Trelleborg is just how much there is to discover, both close to home and around the world. You can go almost anywhere! With teams and products spanning countries and industries, every project brings a new experience. I love working in Technology and Innovation because it means I get to collaborate with people from different parts of the company and help bring new ideas to life.

The culture here is incredibly dynamic and team-oriented. There’s always something interesting going on, and you genuinely feel like you’re part of something important. Each day comes with new challenges and the chance to make a real impact. You are never bored!

Why would you recommend Trelleborg to someone beginning their professional career?
If you’re just starting out and looking for a place that helps you grow and figure out where you want to go, Trelleborg is a fantastic choice. You don’t have to know exactly what you want to do right away—there’s plenty of room to try different things and see what fits, if you are willing and able to take the chance.

The mentoring culture makes a huge difference, too. There are always experienced colleagues ready to share advice and help you develop the skills you need. Plus, with resources like the Learning Zone, you can build both technical and professional skills, like public speaking, in a supportive environment.

Overall, Trelleborg creates a space where you can keep learning, develop your strengths, and shape the direction of your career. It’s exciting to be a part of a company that wants to see you succeed.
