Supporting student education in India

Trelleborg and Akshaya Patra Foundation cooperating for Scholarship Program in India
Trelleborg’s Scholarship Program in India helps talented students reach their dream of a higher education.
Trelleborg’s different Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) programs in India seek to contribute towards a better society through several different initiatives.

One example is the “Trelleborg India’s Scholarship Program” for talented students. This scholarship targets high performing students who would otherwise not be able to pursue a higher education due to financial constraints. The scholarships are intended to cover the tuition costs from pre-university programs up to a variety of Bachelor degrees.

The scholarship for educational support was launched in 2016 in coordination with the Akshaya Patra Foundation, an Indian organization that also runs the world’s largest not-for-profit mid-day meal program, which serves healthy food to more than 1.7 million school children across the country.

This year, more than 200 students with high exam grades, received the scholarship and could pursue a higher education. About 75 percent of the recipients were young women. The scholarships were recently awarded at the Trelleborg Sealing Solutions site in Bengaluru, and Trelleborg employees as well as the CEO of the Akshaya Patra Foundation participated in the event, together with some 30 students. Ranjan Sen, Managing Director of Trelleborg Sealing Solutions chaired the event.

In his opening speech, Ranjan Sen urged the students to pass on the “candle of support” to those who are in need, to help create a better world and a better society. It was a proud moment for everybody who participated to see the joy on the students’ faces upon receiving their scholarship awards.
