Extrusion coating capabilities

Extrusion coating plays a vital role in creating a protective layer that enhances the performance of various materials. This process involves applying a thin layer of molten polymer to a substrate, such as fabric or plastic. The result is a composite material with improved durability, resistance and functionality.
For over a year, Trelleborg’s facility in Rutherfordton, North Carolina, has been testing a state-of-the-art pilot extrusion coating machine. This advanced technology enables rapid prototyping, significantly reducing development time for new solutions. It allows engineers to test specific polymer formulations and substrate combinations with exceptional precision.
Building on this momentum, Trelleborg is preparing to open a dedicated facility in Forest City, North Carolina, in Q2 2026. This site will be equipped with advanced extrusion coating capabilities, further enhancing Trelleborg’s ability to deliver next-generation solutions and support the evolving needs of customers.
