Trelleborg acquires properties in southeast Sweden

Trelleborg Group has agreed with Kalmar Municipality Group, Sweden, to acquire the office and industrial properties that Trelleborg Group currently lease in the city. The agreed value of the properties amounts to SEK 190 M. Completion of the transaction is subject to the approval of Kalmar City Council, which is expected to be given during autumn 2021.

In Kalmar, the Trelleborg Sealing Solutions business area develops and manufactures noise and vibration-damping solutions for light vehicles, primarily brake shims. It is a world-leading business that has reported strong organic growth for a long time, with healthy profitability. As recently as 2019, Trelleborg invested in a new production line at its Kalmar facility, which significantly increased capacity and improved the work environment.

“I am pleased that today we have reached an agreement with Trelleborg on a purchase of the properties they currently lease from Kalmar Municipality Group. Trelleborg is an important company for the city of Kalmar. Trelleborg will now have access to its own premises; something that has been discussed from time to time during recent years. It also enables the company to continue its expansion in Kalmar, which I naturally welcome,” says Johan Persson from the Social Democratic Party and Chairman of the Municipal Board of Kalmar.

“The operation in Kalmar is of global importance to the Trelleborg Group and we believe strongly in its continued success. The business has committed employees and a world-class product portfolio. Now that the opportunity has arisen to acquire the properties, we regard it as part of our investment in the future, to further develop the operation and strengthen our presence in Kalmar,” says Fredrik Nilsson, CFO of Trelleborg Group.
