New Trelleborg AB Board members proposed Two members of the Trelleborg AB Board of Directors will decline reelection at the Company's Annual General Meeting on April 22 this year on age grounds. Both Hans Cavalli Björkman and Sven Olving are 70 and leave the Board after having served for 29 and 11 years, respectively. Ann-Christine Albertsson, Professor in Polymer Technology at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm, Sweden, and Anders Narvinger, President and Chief Executive Officer of Asea Brown Boveri AB, have been proposed as new Board members. Trelleborg's new President and Chief Executive Officer, Fredrik Arp, will also be proposed for election to the Board by the Annual General Meeting. He will replace former President and CEO Kjell Nilsson, who left the Group on January 27, 1999. In addition, the following Board members will be proposed for reelection: Rune Andersson (Chairman), Lennart Nilsson, Rolf Kjellman, Berthold Lindqvist, Didrik Normark and Erik Penser. Ann-Christine Albertsson, 53, has been Professor in Polymer Technology and responsible for the Polymer Technology Department at the Royal Institute of Technology (KTH) in Stockholm since 1986. She has extensive international experience and has worked in research and as a guest professor on several occasions in Japan and the United States. Professor Albertsson has been a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA) since 1989. In 1992, she was awarded the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences' Arnberg Prize and in 1996 she received the Nordblad-Ekstrand Medal from the Swedish Chemical Society. Asea Brown Boveri AB's President and Chief Executive Officer Anders Narvinger, 50, an M.Eng. and M.B.A., has worked for Asea Brown Boveri since 1972 and has a solid industrial background. He has been responsible for several different Asea Brown Boveri operations. He was appointed President and CEO of the company in 1996. Anders Narvinger is Chairman of a number of ABB companies in Sweden and abroad and is Chairman of the Swedish Institute for Quality Development (SIQ). He is Deputy Chairman of Sweden's Engineering Industries (VI) and a member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Engineering Sciences (IVA). Shareholders representing approximately 27 percent of the share capital and slightly more than 60 percent of the voting rights in Trelleborg AB support the Board composition proposals. "Both Hans Cavalli Björkman and Sven Olving have taken an active and meritorious part in Trelleborg's development over a period of many years. Now we have found excellent successors to them," notes Board Chairman Rune Andersson. "Anders Narvinger's sound industrial experience within major companies and Ann-Christine Albertsson's knowledge of polymers and other technologies complement our Board in an exceptional manner."
