Trelleborg acquires European distributors

Trelleborg acquires European distributors Trelleborg AB has signed an agreement to acquire all of the shares in Finnish weatherproofing products company, Joule Oy, which has annual sales of about SEK 30 M. Trelleborg has also acquired all of the shares in the German weatherproofing company, Dach Baustoff Vertrieb (DBV), which has annual sales of approximately SEK 20 M. Both Joule Oy and DBV are integrated in the Trelleborg Building Systems business area, which develops, produces and markets a broad range of sealing products for customers in mainly the building and manufacturing industries. Joule Oy is one of the leading distributors of weatherproofing products to the Finnish roofing contractors market. The company also produces and processes a range of different bitumen-based products at its plant some 50 km outside Helsinki. The formal transfer of ownership will take place on December 1, 1998, following which the company's name will be changed to Trelleborg Joule Oy. DBV distributes rubber membranes to the German building industry. The acquisition of DBV strengthens Trelleborg Building Systems' already well-established organization in the German market. "The acquisition of Joule Oy and DBV can be regarded as a continuation of Trelleborg Building Systems' focus on the weatherproofing products market, in which we recently acquired Trebolit. It is also in line with our expansion into operations outside Sweden for this type of product," comments business area president, Peter Suter. www.trelleborg.com For further information, please contact: Business Area President Mr Peter Suter, phone +46 42 334021 (office) or +46 708-238349 (mobile), or Mr Mikael Byström, Corporate Communications, phone + 46 410 67037 (office) or + 46 70708 552169 (mobile),
