Natural rubber is the only truly sustainable elastomer

Hevea
Natural Rubber is produced from latex, a substance the hevea tree produces to heal a cut in its bark.
You are aware that we offer elastomer products such as hoses, expansion joints, bridge expansion joints, rubber sheetings but do you know the origin of the rubber with which these products are made.

Originally from Amazonia, heveas are now farmed in Africa and Asia. Many other natural plants produce similar latex, including the dandelion (or guayule), which is now being cultivated as a rubber ingredient.

Today natural rubber accounts for close to 50% of the total volume of rubber being produced. Right now, all other elastomers are refined from petroleum, but scientists are actively working on biosourced alternatives.

We will keep you posted about their progress.
