Paolo Astarita

A word from the Senior Vice President Human Resources

Since 2001, Paolo has held the position as Vice President Human Resources for the business area Trelleborg Wheel Systems and has in addition been in charge of Talent Management for the Group since 2011. Connect meets with Paolo at his new office in Trelleborg, Sweden: “I am glad for this appointment. I am committed to taking on this new responsibility, leveraging experience gained during 14 years of intense involvement the Trelleborg Group,” says Paolo.

“The HR strategy in Trelleborg is strongly linked to the business strategy and focuses on four main areas: Be an inspiring workplace, ensure people engagement, accelerate results and develop our talents,” Paolo continues.

Key challenges for HR in 2016
“I see two main challenges. People engagement: We believe that having people fully engaged is good for both our employees as well as for Trelleborg. Next year, it will be crucial to support all the managers to take actions based on the outcome of the Employee Engagement Survey that was recently carried out in the Group. The other challenge is leadership development, where we want to identify future leaders and give them the opportunity to grow in the Group. Our task is to support them in building business skills, which we can do through our Group University and our Excellence programs."

Start up of a Mentor Program
“In November 2015 we launched our Mentoring Program targeting the younger generations. Young people require more feedback, knowledge sharing, new technologies and social activities at work.”

“We will continue to build teams made of people with different cultures, genders, nationalities and experience in order to support and ensure diversity of thought. This will have a positive impact on our business performance in the future, I am sure,” Paolo concludes.
