Jean Liang

Portrait of Jean Liang
Jean Liang joined Trelleborg nearly two years ago as senior human resources manager at Trelleborg Medical Solutions. Since then, she has come to see her role as something bigger than recruitment and onboarding: she sees herself as a bridge, connecting local teams in Shanghai and Pinghu with the global scale of Trelleborg Group, while helping the business grow one person at a time.

From your perspective, what makes the culture at Trelleborg special?

In my nearly two years here, I've seen how Trelleborg's 120-year history isn't just something on the website. It shows up in how we work every day. Our engineered polymer solutions shape nearly every aspect of modern life, from infrastructure and transportation to healthcare and advanced technology. That broad footprint means we naturally bring cross-industry perspectives to the table.

That identity shapes how we work. We stay close to the customer, act fast and collaborate across borders. We also hold ourselves accountable for results. This approach shapes our mindset: we trust each other, we have real autonomy and we work in an agile environment. It's a culture that opens up global opportunities and gives us room to grow, while making it easy to work across teams.

In what ways do you feel your role at Trelleborg allows you to shape the future of industry?

I feel very fortunate to be in human resources at Trelleborg because, in my view, shaping the future of industry starts with shaping the people behind it.

My role matters in a few concrete ways. First, I help bring in the right talent, not just people with the right technical skills, but those who genuinely connect with our core values of customer focus, performance, responsibility and innovation. I make sure new joiners feel welcomed and set up for success from day one.

Beyond hiring, I focus on creating an environment where people feel motivated to do their best work. That means keeping communication open and transparent, helping teams stay aligned around shared goals and making sure everyone feels heard.

What I find most meaningful is the human side: helping someone settle into our culture, watching them gain confidence and knowing that my work directly enables the team to thrive.

As Trelleborg continues to grow, what opportunities have you discovered for your own development?

As Trelleborg continues to grow, I've especially noticed how much opportunity there is within Trelleborg Medical Solutions. This business area is evolving fast, and it genuinely feels like we're building our future together. That's an amazing experience.

The culture here really supports that growth. We're trusted to make decisions and run with our ideas. As the medical business grows, we keep facing new challenges and figuring out new processes side by side.

What's great for my own development is that my role keeps expanding as the business grows. I've been able to step into different areas and pick up broader skills across various functions. And since we're in growth mode, I can take the lead and drive initiatives forward.

What has been the most rewarding part of your career with Trelleborg so far?

Looking back on my time here, I see myself as a bridge. My role is to help our local teams in Shanghai and Pinghu truly understand how the Trelleborg Group works, while also making sure the global side hears and understands the local context.

It's not just about translating policies or running onboarding sessions. It's about building real understanding. What makes this deeply rewarding is watching that understanding turn into trust.
