Portrait of Dan Benton
As an Industrial Painter at Trelleborg, I have spent the last four years developing my skills, collaborating with incredible colleagues and contributing to projects that make a true global impact.
Being part of a global company means that the work we do locally can reach the furthest corners of the planet or in my case, the deepest depths of the ocean. Here is a look at my experience growing within a dynamic work environment and helping drive cutting-edge innovation.

What has been the most rewarding part of your career with Trelleborg so far?

Over the four years that I have been here, leaders have given me many opportunities to learn and grow in areas of the shop outside my original role. I am extremely grateful for those learning opportunities, as they show how much the company values individual career development.

How has your role at Trelleborg changed or developed over time?

As my time with the company has progressed, I've been able to work more independently with very little supervision. I keep in constant contact with them about my progress. They trust me to perform my projects to the best of my abilities and to report any problems. They are always open to jumping in and helping in any way possible so that we complete every project to company standards.

Can you share a specific moment or project at Trelleborg that made you feel proud of your work?

I am most proud of a project where we refurbished a human-occupied vehicle (HOV). It arrived in pretty rough shape. We all got together and found out that this vehicle had previously gone to the bottom of the Mariana Trench. A dedicated team worked on this job for five months non-stop. When we finally put it all together and painted it, the vehicle looked incredible.

The final result was so impressive that it even caught the attention of some filmmakers, and there is a possibility it may be featured in a National Geographic documentary on the Mariana Trench. It was ready for its close-up, and our team's work got the star treatment it deserved

From your perspective, what makes the culture at Trelleborg special?

It is awesome to see how everyone, at all levels of the organization, comes together to work on any project. We maintain a genuine open-door policy. From our general manager to my immediate supervisor, leaders are always willing to listen. This makes it very easy to share ideas and foster a forward-thinking culture where everyone feels heard.

Describe a time you felt truly inspired by your colleagues or the work we do here.

During the Mariana Trench HOV project, our entire local team pulled together to finish the job. My colleagues stepped in to help while still managing their own responsibilities. They would check back with me to see how they could support the effort. Seeing everyone unite to ensure our projects are delivered to the best of our ability is one of the most rewarding aspects of working here.
