As a Material Technologist in Leicester, England, I began my career at Trelleborg focusing on biopolymer research and sustainable material innovation.
From the start, I saw how my work could drive progress within our organization and beyond. Each project challenges me to create solutions that support our customers while reducing our environmental impact. My role has also allowed me to collaborate with colleagues worldwide, discover new growth opportunities, and apply my commitment to sustainability every day.
In what ways do you feel your role at Trelleborg allows you to shape the future of industry?
My role gives me a direct opportunity to shape the future of our industry through material innovation. My background in biopolymer research instilled a strong sustainability mindset in me. I bring that perspective into my daily work by exploring more environmentally responsible materials and improving our existing formulations.
One area where my team contributes involves supporting the shift from non-renewable oils to plant-based oils in compound formulations. While this substitution might seem small on the surface, it plays a critical part in reducing our environmental impact and moving us toward more sustainable material systems.
I deeply appreciate that Trelleborg’s sustainability goals align so closely with my own. The company’s drive to reduce our carbon footprint, improve resource efficiency and adopt sustainable materials gives my work a real sense of purpose. I use my background and passion to genuinely influence the direction of our products and support a cleaner, more responsible future.
Describe a time you felt truly inspired by your colleagues or the work we do here.
A recent inter-departmental challenge truly inspired me. Despite a stressful situation, everyone immediately shifted into problem-solving mode. My colleagues shared ideas, adapted plans and supported each other to keep the project moving forward. Watching people collaborate so naturally made a massive impression on me.
As someone who’s still fairly new to the company, I’ve really appreciated how welcoming and supportive everyone has been. Instead of feeling like “the new person,” I’ve felt included from the start, and people are always happy to answer questions or talk through challenges. Seeing that combination of teamwork, resilience and genuine support has made me feel proud to work at Trelleborg and really inspired by the people I get to work with every day.
As Trelleborg continues to grow, what opportunities have you discovered for your own development?
I actively explore various development opportunities at Trelleborg. Currently, I take a business finance course to build my commercial understanding. I also see great potential in joining a graduate program in the future to gain structured growth and broader business experience.
On the technical side, I find real value in attending conferences on renewable and innovative materials. I also benefit significantly from visiting our suppliers. These visits give me practical insights into the materials and processes used within the rubber industry. Looking ahead, I’m genuinely enthusiastic about how Trelleborg can continue to support my growth as the company develops, and I’m keen to keep building on all the opportunities already available to me.
How has being part of a global team influenced your work and personal growth?
Being part of a global team positively influences both my work and my personal growth. I collaborate with team members across India, Germany and America. Working with people from different sites and time zones shows me how connected our entire organization remains. Everyone works toward the same collective goal regardless of their location.
These global interactions help me broaden my perspective, adapt my communication style and understand how different teams approach similar challenges. It makes me feel like part of something much bigger than my day-to-day role. Seeing how supportive and aligned our global team is excites me to keep contributing as I grow within Trelleborg.
