Archana Ramakrishna Engineer, Trelleborg Sealing Solutions, Bengaluru, India
I joined Trelleborg as an Apprentice in the Customer Relations Department. After a year of training, I was appointed Graduate Engineering Trainee, and the next year I was promoted to Engineer-Customer Relations. Since 2016, I have been in the Elastomer unit as Engineer-Process Engineering where my new job role involves doing downtime analysis of critical processes, conducting trainings for the operators to hone their skills, cycle time study of all the processes to set the standards, and conducting feasibility studies for newly developed in-house parts. I have been part of the Trelleborg Graduate Program and got an opportunity to be trained in Sweden, the Netherlands and Malta so far.
In my job, I apply all the technical skills that I have acquired throughout my Engineering studies and training imparted to me by my seniors in Trelleborg. One of my main contributions is to support smooth processing of all the transactions on the shop floor. I ensure that delays caused during critical processes are minimized and the manufacturing process flows smoothly till the final products are packed and dispatched.
My most important innovation is to interact with the operators and train them in new skills. As and when technology advances, we update the skills of our shop floor employees.
My biggest learning since joining Trelleborg is that we need to adapt to the changing work environment and continuously hone our technical skills. We ought to be ready to accept new and different job roles. It is good to be flexible and face new challenges.
