Radar mitigation
Large radar cross-section (RCS) of wind turbines is a challenge for radar operators, as it interferes with airport and weather radar systems. The wind turbines show as clutter or shadowing on the radar operators screen, obscuring the display and resulting in lost aircraft tracking. One of the ways that Trelleborg is contributing to solving renewable wind energy challenges for our customers, is with the development of Frame™, a unique radar mitigation material designed and developed to reduce the clutter wind turbines cause, facilitating windfarm development in previously restricted areas.
