Technical Webinar: Sealing Technology for Ground Support Systems

ground-support-systems
On December 14 and 15, 2021, Trelleborg Sealing Solutions Aerospace experts will be hosting a technical webinar on polymer and sealing technology for ground support equipment (GSE).

Aerospace Application Engineer, Phil Allessi, will demonstrate Trelleborg’s portfolio of polymer products and capabilities and how these can be used in a large range of applications for GSE. Participants will:

  • Learn how our polymer and sealing products, including elastomer and PTFE seals, custom thermoplastic and elastomer components and gaskets, can optimize the performance of GSE by blocking contamination, facilitating easier handling and preventing leakage
  • Find out how polymer materials, including elastomers, PTFE and thermoplastic materials can enhance GSE and when material compliance with regulations is relevant, e.g. for potable water applications
  • Understand how Trelleborg partners with your company as a total solutions provider to design, manufacture and supply polymer components to meet your application requirements.

Polymer technology for GSE

Before takeoff and after landing, GSE services the aircraft for its next flight and assists in transporting it to and from the terminal. The safe and smooth unloading and loading of both luggage and passengers, as well as maintaining aircraft systems, such as the water and fuel, are vital to ensuring efficient air travel around the globe.

  • Fuel, potable water and lavatory servicing vehicles refill water and fuel tanks and empty wastewater tanks. Seals, bearings and polymer components can make handling easier and prevent leakage of fluids.
  • Jacking, towing and e-taxi equipment are responsible for moving and lifting the aircraft. Sealing components enable heavy lifting and ensure safety.
  • Ground power units (GPUs) provide power to the aircraft when it is on the ground, enabling electrical systems to function when the engine is not in use. Polymer components and seals protect the motor and other GPU components to keep systems running.
  • De-icing equipment prepares aircraft for flying in the coldest conditions. Seals and polymer components keep this equipment running in the dirtiest and coldest environments.

Trelleborg Sealing Solutions Aerospace products ensure reliable, leak-free, long-lasting performance, and withstand extreme temperatures and aggressive fluids, such as de-icing fluids and jet fuels, allowing the aircraft to be efficiently maintained even in extreme weather.
