Flap cushion seal, front end
The flap cushion seal is a complex construction built up of several chamfers of reinforced Aeroflex material. It therefore keeps its shape during flight but is still flexible enough to absorb several inches of sideways movement of the flap ends, preventing structural damage during adverse weather conditions.
