Trelleborg is Part of Clean Sky Tilt Rotor Technology Project
Trelleborg Sealing Solutions Aerospace announces its participation in the design and development of the Next Generation Civil Tilt Rotor Technology Demonstrator (NGCTR TD).
Within the project, Trelleborg Sealing Solutions is a partner of a consortium consisting of INSTYTUT LOTNICTWA (Poland), POLITECNICO DI MILANO (Italy), SZEL-TECH (Poland), PW METROL (Poland), LA Composite (Czech Republic) and NLR (Netherlands). The consortium collaborates closely with the project leader, Leonardo Helicopters.
The aim of the NGCTR project is to construct a full-scale technological demonstrator on the Nacelle of the AW609 Tiltrotor using innovative solutions. This project will lead to the definition of new technologies and an innovative architecture, with the purpose to increase performances and operational capabilities with respect to current configurations.
A tiltrotor is an aircraft that generates both lift and propulsion using rotors that are mounted on swiveling engine pods or nacelles, usually mounted on a fixed wing driven through gearboxes delivering the torque which comes from engines.
This is a project launched and carried out under Clean Sky 2 Joint Undertaking’s Horizon 2020, the biggest EU Research and Innovation program. Clean Sky is the largest European research program developing innovative, cutting-edge technology aimed at reducing CO2, gas emissions and noise levels produced by aircraft. Funded by the EU’s Horizon 2020 program, Clean Sky contributes to strengthening European aero-industry collaboration, global leadership and competitiveness.
