Reducing Waste for a Better Tomorrow

Mottainai Volunteer Project
In today's world, waste reduction has become a crucial aspect of sustainability and environmental preservation. At Trelleborg, we're dedicated to creating a better tomorrow through sustainable practices. That's why we're proud to share that our colleagues in Japan have taken a stand against waste by taking part in the "Mottainai Volunteer Project."

The "Mottainai Volunteer Project" is an initiative that aims to reduce waste through the reuse of items while creating a workplace for 5,000 people with disabilities. The jobs help support their education and earn wages that enable them to be self-sufficient in Japan. The association receives items as donations that are no longer used at homes or offices and breathes new life into them by cleaning and sorting them and then passing them on to the next person in need. By reusing items that would otherwise have been thrown away, the project leads to a reduction in waste and a conservation of the earth's resources.

Our employees collected a variety of items, from clothes to toys, during a three-week period and 12 cardboard boxes of donated items were amassed in the end. The collected items were then donated to the project, and a portion of the profits from their sale will be donated to support education for children in orphanages in Myanmar.

By joining this initiative, our team in Japan not only reduced waste but also supported those in need. It was a valuable opportunity for everyone to rethink what they really need in their daily lives and to make a positive impact on the community and the planet.

We're committed to making a positive impact on the world, and reducing waste is just one of the ways we're doing it. Join us in creating a better tomorrow for all.
