Trelleborg Seals & Profiles Facility: Advancing Resource Efficiency

Seals in Bielsko-Biala warehouse
The Trelleborg seals & profiles facility in Bielsko-Biala, Poland, is taking significant steps to reduce plastic usage in its packaging and distribution processes

This initiative highlights the dedication of the business to sustainable practices and its strategic vision to support the transition to a low-carbon society.

The facility's journey toward sustainability began with a shift to 100% renewable electricity, followed by efforts to reduce oil-contaminated waste. Currently, the focus is on minimizing plastic usage in packaging and distribution in line with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly Goal 12 (Responsible Consumption and Production) and Goal 13 (Climate Action).

Rethinking Plastic Use
The facility's initiative to cut back on plastics in both inbound and outbound goods showcases its comprehensive approach to waste reduction. A crucial part of this strategy involves reusing, recycling, and minimizing waste.

By eliminating plastic bags for rubber compounds in inbound processes, the Bielsko-Biala facility has significantly reduced plastic waste, demonstrating the tangible benefits of eliminating single-use plastics. In outbound operations, minimizing pallet wrapping and product packaging has further decreased plastic consumption. These efforts are small steps in the facility's progress toward its climate goals.

These initiatives underscore Trelleborg’s strategic commitment to sustainable growth and science-based targets.
