The Trelleborg DrainPacker System has been officially approved by the Melbourne Retail Water Agencies (MRWA), a joint association of South East Water, Yarra Valley Water and Greater Western Water. The Trelleborg DrainPacker System is a sectional repair method for pipes of any material including concrete, vitrified clay, asbestos cement, cast or ductile iron, GRP, PVC and PE, within the size range from DN 100 to DN 1200. The system is suitable for patching cracks, mechanical wear, corrosion, and leaking joints in underground non-pressure gravity drain and sewer pipelines. The repair lengths stretch from 0.5m to 5m.
The DrainPacker System comprises the following equipment and materials:
- DrainPacker (short packers, long packers, flex packers, lateral packers)
- Grassfire Mat (two grades of fiberglass mats)
- Silicate Resin (Type W, Type S, Type W01 resins)
The Product Appraisal Technical Advisory Group of MRWA reviewed the quality assurance and performance requirements for the Trelleborg DrainPacker System before the approval. The decision was made after reviewing Trelleborg's production management and control system (compliance with ISO 9001), equipment and materials (compliance with DIBT standards DIN 1259-1, DIN 61853-1, DIN61853-2 and DIN 61854-1), fitting instructions, training, installation, packaging and transport, and product warranty.
The application was submitted by Trelleborg’s current distributor in Australia Sewer Equipment Company (AUST), who specialize in suppling equipment for the cleaning, testing, inspection and rehabilitation of sewers and drains.
According to Mr. William Wong, APAC Business Development Manager at Trelleborg, “This is a significant step for Trelleborg’s pipe rehabilitation business in Australasia. We are happy to see that our DrainPacker System passed MRWA’s appraisal, which is a prestigious water body agency that established water industry standards referred to by manufacturers, suppliers, distributors, and agents. The appraisal is definitely a recognition of our high quality pipe rehabilitation solutions and we are happy that users in this area are reassured of this fact from now on.”
