SuperSealer Kathrin Gierl

Kathrin Gierl

From the internal sales team in Bochum, Germany, this month’s SuperSealer tells us how she never tires of learning about new aspects of mechanical engineering, her role in creating technical offers and her passion for football, rock concerts and nature.

Who are you?

My name is Kathrin Gierl and I’m 42 years old. I’m part of the internal Sales Team in Bochum supporting Trelleborg’s pipe repair business.

How long have you worked in this position and what are your key duties?

It’s almost exactly five years since I arrived at Trelleborg! I joined in April 2019 and since then my key duties have been to process orders and create technical offers, as well as to maintain the price lists and the organization of our rental park.

What do you like most about working with Trelleborg?

I love working with colleagues all over the world and interacting with our customers. I work closely with colleagues from sales, which requires a high level of organization and the ability to collaborate effectively on tasks that are varied and exciting.

What are the key challenges you face in your job?

Internal Sales is an interface where a lot of different kinds of information comes together. The challenge for me is to sort, filter and organize this information efficiently. At the same time, there is a need to keep abreast of new developments. I work primarily in the field of mechanical engineering, which is constantly evolving. But I am inquisitive and flexible, so I never get tired of learning new things.

How do you think the business in your area is going to evolve in the future?

Software will be a key driver of change. There are plans to introduce new software at our locations in Duisburg and Bochum, Germany that will ultimately make our everyday work easier. However, we may face new challenges in the implementation phase as we master new processes.

What do you do in your free time?

My partner and I share a passion for the football club 1. FC Köln. We visit the stadium as often as possible to see our favorite players in action. We also like to go to rock concerts with my 14-year-old son or with friends. When we can, we spend time in nature, which provides a nice balance to working in the office.
