Our December SuperSealer is as active on the soccer field as he is supporting Trelleborg clients new and old. He joined the team two years ago as a Technical Support Specialist, and he’s never felt more in his element.
Who are you?
My name is Luis Enrique Torres Gastelum, and I’m a Technical Support Specialist for Trelleborg Seals & Profiles based in Mexico.
How long have you worked in this position, and what are your key duties?
I’ve been with Trelleborg for two years – and, boy, has the time gone by quickly! My responsibilities include bringing new customers on board, forging partnerships, and initiating follow ups. So, you can see, I’m kept very busy! My job is also to ensure our current clients continue to receive the best service possible.
What do you like about working at Trelleborg?
From the beginning, I’ve felt the company’s philosophy, as well as the internal culture, really fit with my own view of work and the world. In my experience, Trelleborg is unique in terms of the level of support it provides employees. This is matched by the quality of the technical solutions we offer our customers, keeping them – and ourselves – competitive.
What are the key challenges you face in your job?
Every day is a challenge – in a great way! That comes with the territory, and it’s what keeps my work interesting. I’m constantly negotiating commercial terms with new customers, as well as existing ones. It’s my job to make sure that both the company and the customer remain satisfied.
There are also certain clients and solutions that come with special challenges. Like any profiles involving extrusion – because the market for it is especially complex.
How do you think the business in your area is going to evolve in the future? How are you preparing for this?
Diversification is definitely shaping the future of our industry. To remain competitive, it’s important that we continually expand our horizons, and that we can focus on serving multiple sectors at once: automotive, construction, aerospace, and tech – to name a few.
We are consistently creating opportunities for new business by looking at our customer’s needs with added value in mind, and backing that up with solutions".
What do you do in your free time?
Friends and family know I’m always on the move, and I keep very active. I work out and play as much soccer and golf as possible.
