Compression Molding Process
The compression molding process begins with a piece of uncured rubber, which has been specially weighted and preformed. These pieces are then placed into each of the mold cavities. The mold is then closed, forcing the preform into the shape of the part. The elastomer is held under pressure until the rubber achieves the required amount of crosslinking. Flash is removed and the parts are placed in an oven for post curing to achieve a fully cured finished part.

Compression molding is generally used in applications where custom shapes are needed such as diaphragms for respiratory equipment, lip seals for cylinder applications or isolation bumpers used to inhibit vibrations.
