The web-based berthing energy calculator was developed to help consulting engineers in the early stages of project development to estimate the berthing energy requirements of a proposed fendering system. As a leading manufacturing of marine fender systems, we realize that performing berthing energy calculations aren’t an everyday task for most engineers, so we designed the calculator to take the user step by step through the calculation process by explaining the required inputs with detailed terminology and graphics. Once all steps are completed a detailed summary is displayed, and the user has the option to receive an emailed PDF of their berthing energy calculations.

Please note that the Berthing Energy Calculator is provided only as a guidance tool to assist engineers to calculate basic berthing energies when attempting to determine the proper fender for an application. Actual project berthing energies should be verified within your organization, or contact Trelleborg Marine Systems to assist in a more detailed review.

Please Note: The Fender Specification Generator was developed to create specifications for fender panel systems that have already been designed (most variables must be known in order to use the generator). While portions of the generator may apply to other various fendering systems, such as cylindrical or arch fenders, its main intended purpose is for panel systems utilizing either rubber cell, cone, or leg fenders.
