Barge or jacket fendering systems are used during the floatover operation and protect against damage arising from the potential impact between the barge and the substructure legs during the entrance, mating, and exit phases. The fenders also assist in limiting the barge movement during this operation.
SSFs (Sway and Surge Fenders) are used to limit the motion of the barge within the confines of the jacket slot and reduce the transport barge’s impact loads on the jacket legs, especially as it moves forward or sideways during the mating operation.
This helps avoid collisions and damage to the foundation, barges, and topside. SSFs use special rubber parts, which can absorb the impact force caused by the barge’s movement and relieve the impact of the barge onto the foundation structure, thus preventing damage between each other and satisfying the design safety spacing.
Our SSFs can be custom designed to comply with individual project specified stiffness requirements in both compression and shear. Trelleborg can offer a cost-effective system for attaching the fenders to the barge structure if required.
