Trelleborg's marine fenders receive SCOPE certification in the Japanese market
Trelleborg’s marine and infrastructure operation in Japan has renewed its certification for the use of its marine fenders in the Japanese market from the Specialists Center of Port and Airport Engineering (SCOPE). SCOPE is the body that sets the quality and performance requirements for port equipment manufactured outside of the country and facilitates its use at domestic ports.
After first achieving certification in 2015, this is the second renewal of Trelleborg’s SCOPE certification for marine fenders, which validates the high standards Trelleborg upholds for its industry-leading fenders in the quality-driven Japanese market.
Mishra Kumar, Business Unit Director – R&D at Trelleborg’s marine and infrastructure operation, says: “Fender systems are a vital part of port infrastructure. These systems are mission-critical equipment and are essential to the safety and efficiency of port operations, protecting vessels and terminals alike.
“We set out on a four-month initiative to provide SCOPE with the relevant technical documentation across our fenders' design, manufacture, and testing. As a result, we are delighted that Trelleborg continues to retain the SCOPE certification for the supply of marine fenders in the Japanese market. We look forward to continuing to facilitate increased efficiency and safety of berthing operations at ports across Japan in a more sustainable way.”
Mr. Hiroshi Hayashida, the board chairperson of SCOPE, says: “Trelleborg plays an important role in working alongside PIANC and other stakeholders across the value chain in promoting and enhancing marine fender best practice. We look forward to Trelleborg’s continued support for the Japanese ports.” For more information about Trelleborg’s marine and infrastructure operation’s marine fenders, visit: https://www.trelleborg.com/en/marine-and-infrastructure/products-solutions-and-services/marine/marine-fenders
