People make the difference: Whitney Killip

Portrait of Whitney Killip
When Whitney Killip first joined Trelleborg in 2003, she was inspired by more than just a new career opportunity—she was welcomed into a community built on vision, partnership and a genuine sense of belonging.
The culture felt like family from the start, and it was the people she met who would continue to shape her experience for years to come.

Fostering connection

Whitney’s early days were marked by a very different kind of communication. She remembers working in Germany when business still relied on fax machines, with grainy printouts being the norm. Over time, she helped guide Trelleborg’s marketing and communications journey into the digital age. Today, Whitney is a key player on a global team of over 40 professionals, using cutting-edge tools like apps and social media to connect colleagues and customers worldwide—all while honoring the collaborative spirit that first brought her on board.

Throughout her career, Whitney has embraced every challenge as an opportunity to grow. She credits the Trelleborg International Management Program (TIMP) with broadening her perspective, sharpening her teamwork skills, and making her more aware of different cultures and communication styles. “Teamwork makes or breaks the success of a project,” she reflects. This belief has been a guiding principle in her approach to leading projects and supporting colleagues across borders.

One project especially close to Whitney’s heart is the customer magazine, in the groove. Launched over two decades ago by a handful of passionate team members, the magazine has grown into a showcase of global collaboration. Each new issue brings together voices from across Trelleborg, celebrating both progress and the people behind the innovations.

From mentee to mentor

Whitney’s journey has evolved from being mentored to becoming a mentor herself. She finds fulfillment in guiding new colleagues, sharing insights and reminding them that together they are stronger. “Your experience at Trelleborg is what you make it. Get to know as many people as you can. If I don’t have the answer, I know the person who does!” she advises those just starting their own journeys.

Looking back, Whitney knows it’s not the major projects that define a career, it is the countless small moments of connection and teamwork along the way. Her dedication to partnership, innovation and nurturing others will continue to shape Trelleborg’s future, proving, year after year, that people really do make the difference.
