Five decades of dedication: Lennart Lundahl

Lennart’s story began in August 1960, when, as a teenager newly arrived from Gotland, he found himself searching for work. With the help of his grandfather, he went to Trelleborg and started in the workshop the very next day. Though his initial goal was to become a car mechanic, Trelleborg’s culture of encouragement quickly became apparent, and Lennart soon embraced opportunities to grow. He moved from working in the transport workshop to taking up training as a supervisor, a step that laid the foundation for a long and varied career.

Leadership, innovation and efficiency

Throughout the years, Lennart’s roles evolved in step with the company’s own transformation. In 1988, he became Security Manager, entrusted with the safety and wellbeing of the workforce. His approach to safety was both practical and deeply human. Lennart recalls challenging moments, such as managing a fire in production that required him to send everyone home to keep them safe, and calmly handling dangerous petrol leaks. In every instance, he placed the wellbeing of his colleagues above all else, earning the trust of those around him.

Innovation and efficiency were hallmarks of Lennart’s tenure. He led cost-saving initiatives such as coordinating security between neighboring companies that reflected the company’s evolving focus on efficiency and collaboration. One of his final major projects was renovating Building 72 and overseeing the move of HQ staff, helping create the modern workplace that Trelleborg calls home today.

Wisdom beyond the workplace

Beyond his professional achievements, Lennart’s outlook embodies Trelleborg’s values of support and opportunity. A three-time Swedish Boule Champion, he drew on the same commitment and camaraderie in both his work and personal life. Lennart’s advice to future employees is simple yet powerful. He states, "Trelleborg is a place where trust runs deep and growth is nurtured. Embrace the opportunities when they arise and the company will help you succeed."

In retirement, Lennart continues to embrace life with enthusiasm. He spends much of his time traveling, often enjoying winters in Spain with his wife and friends from around the world. Whether playing boule on sunlit courts or sharing laughter and stories with newfound companions, Lennart brings warmth and community wherever he goes, a testament to a life well-lived, both at Trelleborg and beyond.
