One-man show to general manager: Kevin Lai

In 1996, Kevin Lai walked through the doors of Trelleborg in Taiwan—a one-man team embarking on a mission to establish the company’s presence in a growing market.
As a fresh Sales Engineer, Kevin was responsible for everything from identifying customer needs to developing tailored sealing solutions, all while forging strong customer relationships. Though it all started with just one person, Kevin’s ambition and dedication laid the groundwork for something remarkable.

A path of growth

Eager to broaden his expertise, Kevin moved through numerous roles over the years. He took on challenges as Operations Manager, Sales Manager, Application Engineer, Financial Controller and eventually, General Manager. Each position gave him greater insight into sales, engineering, business development, supply chain management, accounting and most importantly, leadership. Through each transition, Kevin’s passion for learning, proactive problem-solving, and consistent drive for results propelled him and the teams he led.

As General Manager of the facility in Taiwan, Kevin has overseen significant milestones, including year-on-year business growth, market expansion and operational improvements. He is most proud of the trust and support he has received from his leaders and colleagues, as well as the collaborative, innovative culture that defines Trelleborg. He credits these strong partnerships as key to both his own success and the company’s achievements.
