Progress and partnerships: Jackie Huang

Portrait of Jackie Huang
Jackie Huang’s career with Trelleborg began in 2005, at a pivotal time when the company was expanding its footprint across the Asia Pacific region. Drawn by the opportunity to bridge local strengths with a global mission, Jackie brought his versatile experience to the new challenge of launching manufacturing facilities and fostering cross-cultural teamwork.

Laying foundations

Over the last two decades, Jackie has played a central role in establishing three new facilities, laying the groundwork in Wuxi, growing operations in Qingdao and guiding the expansion to Vietnam. For Jackie, each new facility was both a professional achievement and a chance to empower his team, turning local expertise into global capability.

He hopes the future Trelleborg facility in Qingdao will continue to embody its strengths of pragmatism and responsiveness, foster seamless collaboration across departments and employees, and ensure the team operates with efficiency.

Leading with a “Can-Do” Spirit

His leadership was tested during the COVID-19 pandemic—a crisis that demanded quick thinking, a steady hand and a focus on people. Jackie responded by developing comprehensive emergency plans, mobilizing resources and communicating clearly. Thanks to this preparation and his team’s dedication, the facility experienced no employee infections and zero production losses through the pandemic’s height, a testament to careful planning and a “can-do” spirit.

Jackie states, "In a situation where many other factories were forced to shut down or reduce production, our swift action and thorough planning provided strong support for the business operations of related companies. Additionally, we provided a significant amount of epidemic prevention supplies to external parties."

Landmark projects

Jackie’s career includes participation in major infrastructure projects like the Hong Kong-Macau-Zhuhai immersed tunnel and a notable commitment to sustainability efforts. These initiatives reminded him of the strength that comes from working collectively and the sense of purpose that comes with contributing to something larger than oneself. The local Qingdao facility has also done tremendous work in compliance, R&D of new materials and compounds, and development of new processes to stay at the forefront of this progress.

Advice for the Next Generation

Equally rewarding has been cultivating the next generation of talent, building highly efficient and collaborative teams that form the backbone of Trelleborg’s success in APAC. Reflecting on his 40-year career with 20 years at Trelleborg, Jackie shares advice shaped by experience, stating, “The collective plays a greater role than the individual and the strength of the group surpasses that of any single person. As a business leader, one must prioritize team performance, eliminate internal friction and spare no effort in building a highly efficient team.”
