Building bridges of opportunity: Alina Fu

Portrait of Alina Fu
Sixteen years ago, Alina Fu joined Trelleborg as one of the founding team members in Qingdao, China, right after graduation. Her career path is a testament to growth, transformation and the power of a supportive culture that spans continents. Beginning at the reception desk and rising to her current role as Marketing Manager China for Marine and Infrastructure, her career embodies the spirit of opportunity.

A foundation built on versatility

Alina's career began at the front desk, but her ambition soon led her through HR and into marketing to support business development. This wealth of experience, stretching across different functions and locations, gave her a unique, ground-level perspective on the business. “Over these 16 years, I have witnessed the growth of the Qingdao facility, observed the evolution of other business units and the group’s strategic initiatives, and experienced firsthand the steady development of the Trelleborg brand in China,” she reflects.

Embracing innovation

Over her time at Trelleborg, Alina has witnessed and participated in the execution of numerous landmark projects, including the Doha fender project, the iconic Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and the Shenzhen-Zhongshan Link project. These invaluable experiences gave her a deep understanding of the power of teamwork and innovation.

She channeled these insights into her work, transitioning from roles in HR and marketing to become a pioneer of digital transformation within her own function. By actively leveraging various channels to acquire and analyze data, she provided effective support for critical business decisions.

Beyond her own contributions, she has also been an important supporter and witness to the digital transformation of the Qingdao facility and the entire business unit. This transformation is driven by integrating digital management with traditional products and using data to drive business analysis and optimization, fundamentally reshaping business models and injecting new vitality into the company's continued growth.

Life Beyond Work

Away from the office, Alina pursues her passion for discovery and self-improvement. She enjoys diving and playing badminton, and is currently learning both piano and violin. These interests reflect her belief in staying curious and always seeking new challenges, whether professionally or personally.

Advice for the Next Generation

Reflecting on her career path, Alina encourages future Trelleborg employees to embrace challenges and step out of their comfort zones. Growth, she believes, comes from a willingness to learn, adapt and try new things. She looks forward to welcoming new talent to Trelleborg and fostering a multicultural environment where everyone can thrive, supported by leaders and colleagues with a shared commitment to ongoing development.
