All new Unitex® Exar Squeegee from Trelleborg

As one of the oldest printing processes in the world, screen printing has stood the test of time because it is fast, controllable, measurable and consistent. When you think of screen printing, squeegees may not be the first piece of equipment to come to mind, but it is an essential piece of the process and without it you would not be able to screen print at all. 

A squeegees main purpose is to transfer ink through a stencil onto a substrate, be it an electronic device, bottle container or a textile. In today’s rapidly changing global market, there are more screen printing applications being developed, which require a higher quality squeegee blade to meet their demands, Trelleborg’s applied technologies operation based in Retford, England, will be launching the all new Unitex® Exar screen printing squeegee at the FESPA Global Print Expo 2019 in Munich, Germany. 

Developed by Trelleborg’s technical team, the new squeegee provides excellent screen printing performance and quality. It is made from a high-grade Diphenylmethane Diisocyanate (MDI) polyurethane and is designed to provide exceptional abrasion resistance, ensuring consistent sharp image quality over long print runs. Independent tests showed a 33% improvement in abrasion loss against a standard MDI polyurethane, which translates to longer screen printing cycles.  This will provide a significant cost and time savings as the blade does not need to be changed as often.

Unitex® Exar, is resistant to degradation by commonly used inks, solvents and monomers used in modern printing processes and works exceptionally well on all industrial screen printing as well as decorative printing; such as textiles, graphics, bottles and containers.
