Meet "SuperSealer" Per Arnqvist

Per Arnqvist - Trelleborg

Having worked at Trelleborg for more than two decades, our July SuperSealer strives to find new ways to make things better through innovation. He discusses how combining existing and emerging technologies is an important part of Trelleborg’s future.

Who are you?

My name is Per Arnqvist, and I am the Innovation Project Manager for Trelleborg’s seals and profiles.

How long have you worked in this position and what are your key duties?

I began my current position on January 1 this year. My main role is to keep track of the different innovation projects taking place across Trelleborg Seals and Profiles and to make sure they are moving forward.

How long have you been with Trelleborg and what do you like about working here?

I have been with Trelleborg Group for more than two decades now, having started in September 1998. It’s hard to believe my journey here began 21 years ago! There are many reasons why I’m still here, but coming up with new ways to solve problems is an especially rewarding part of my job.

What are the key challenges you face in your job?

Communications can get complicated when a company as diverse as Trelleborg has a presence spread out in several different countries. You work toward the same goals alongside people with different time zones, languages, cultures, and personalities and that can be a challenge. But this is also something that helps us to continually grow as a company.

How do you think the business in your field is going to evolve in the future? How are you preparing for this?

New technologies are emerging all the time and the challenge is combining these with the old. The older technologies are proven performers, but this must be balanced by embracing new emerging technologies that offer a better way of doing things. At Trelleborg, we have several ongoing projects in this area in which we try to find new ways to make our processes and products more efficient.

What do you do in your free time?

There’s nothing more relaxing than spending time in the great outdoors, and Sweden has a lot to offer. When I’m not working, I love spending time fishing and playing golf. I also enjoy watching ice hockey.
