Customer Reassurance with Global Acceptance

All WaterPro® materials comply with French ACS rules, US NSF/ANSI/CAN Standard 61, UK WRAS, German KTW W270, and European DIN EN 16421 P2/M2, and surpasses ASTM D6284. They are also pre-qualified to meet the forthcoming German KTW-BWGL standard, now set to be mandated in 2026 a year later than originally planned.

Trelleborg WaterPro® customers gain a competitive advantage, integrating the materials into their applications with confidence, ensuring uninterrupted market access and a seamless transition when the KTW-BWGL regulation becomes mandatory.

“Global manufacturers benefit from the worldwide compliance of premium materials, knowing that they meet all current applicable standards wherever they sell their products,” says Adam Li, Global Segment Director Processing Industries.

Eliminating Regulatory Risk

“By choosing WaterPro®, customers are investing in ready-to-use, fully accredited solutions, eliminating the risks and uncertainties associated with regulatory delays. And as regulation continues to be harmonized across Europe, customers can rest assured that the range is already certified with the next iteration of German standards - KTW-BWGL – which is now set to be introduced in 2026.

“We can also help customers optimize their supply chain with unsurpassed design expertise and innovative technologies, working with their teams to develop more complex parts,” concludes Li.

High-Performance Tailored Solutions

All the materials are PFAS-free and can be direct injection molded for highly automated production processes, or overmolded as rubber-to-plastic and rubber-to-metal solutions. The entire WaterPro® range features excellent compression set performance and resistance to chlorine and chloramine disinfectants.

The range includes WaterPro® 557WE, a 60 Shore A material with exceptional flexibility, durability and adaptability for applications requiring low sealing force. WaterPro® 557WG is a 70 Shore A all-purpose compound which is flexible and elastic, making it extremely versatile and suitable for a wide range of applications. Lastly, WaterPro® 557WM is a 90 Shore A durable material with high resistance to abrasion making it suitable for high-pressure applications.

Proprietary Enhanced Testing Standards

Tim Reski, Rubber Technology Leader, adds: “We have developed our own enhanced proprietary version of the ASTM D6284 testing standard for seals exposed to chlorine and chloramine at our Innovation Center in Plymouth, Minnesota, US.

“Our more aggressive version of the standard is intended to provide a more rigorous analysis of how our WaterPro® seals perform in real-world scenarios. Over 1,000 hours of testing, all the WaterPro® range maintained their integrity and exhibit less deformation and devulcanization than a direct competitor material. They displayed better compression set performance and superior resistance to heat and media.”
