About Non-Wovens

The term “non-woven” is used in the textile manufacturing industry to denote fabrics, such as felt, which are neither woven nor knitted.
The fibers can be bound together using chemical, mechanical or thermal methods to achieve different functional characteristics. 
While this process builds structure, non-wovens are typically not as strong as woven fabrics, but this can be enhanced with an engineered coating.
Conversion from fibre to fabric in one process is very efficient and this gives non-wovens their cost advantage over traditional textiles.

Coated Materials

The performance of a textile can be greatly enhanced by a polymer coating.
 
At Trelleborg Engineered Coated Fabrics, we coat textiles using a wide range of manufacturing processes, including direct coating, lamination, transfer coating and hot melt coating.
 
Surface texture can be added through embossing, while top layer finishes can add further functionality.
