The exhaust line system of a ship must be capable of handling stress caused by thermal expansions and contractions. LEXSYS been specifically designed to isolate engine-caused vibration and minimise harmful effects on the vessel, its equipment, and crew. Th components ensure that thermal expansions and contractions within the exhaust line are completely compensated, also protecting the the hull of the ship. The components of the LEXSYS system are listed below.
Fixed Points
RAEM Mounting
The RAEM is a universal mounting for applications demanding MAX.imum vibration isolation. It is a further development of the RA mount, where EM stands for ’extra movement’ and is suitable for both light and heavy machines.
RA Mounting
RA mount uses the rubber profile in shear and compression to obtain good vertical flexibility with the advantage of horizontal stability. For normal speeds of approx. 1500 RPM, the RA provides a degree of isolation of 75-85%. For better isolation, the alternative RAEM or M-Series can be chosen.
Sliding Points
Sliding points allow longitudinal movement within the system caused by the thermal expansion and contraction in the exhaust line. The rubber elements in the sliding points ensure that the vibrations are not transmitted to the rest of the ship.
Stainless Steel Expansion Joints (Balance Series)
Pipeline systems are exposed to temperature variations, setting in foundations, forces and deformations causing movement and/or stress in the system. Flexible parts can absorb movements, preventing structural damage.
Bulkhead/Deck Conduit Units and Rain Caps
Deck conduit units protect the exhaust line at the intersection with the top deck and prevent the transfer of vibrations to the ship’s structure. Rain caps prevent water from entering the vessel through the deck penetration of the exhaust line.
