Trelleborg Successfully Hosted First Road Show Stop in South Africa
On August 24, Trelleborg successfully hosted its 2016 Road Show for the first time in South Africa, in Winterton, Kwa Zulu Natal. More than 50 professional farmers, tire dealers and local farm management attended the event.
As part of the Road Show, three Trelleborg field demonstrations were performed during the day to showcase the importance of selecting the optimal tire inflation pressure for specific farming operations, as recommended using the Trelleborg Load Calculator (TLC).
Tests involved two identical Massey Ferguson 6712 tractors with a 2.5 meter wide sub-tiller, as well as the same transmission shift and RPM. Both tractors were fitted with agricultural radial tires 380/85R28 and 460/85R38 TM600, with different inflation pressure: on one tractor the tires were inflated at 0.8 bar in front and 1.1bar in rear, as recommended by the TLC app, while the tires of the second tractor were inflated to 2.5 bar. Competing over a track of 250 meters, the tractor with the tires inflated to the pressures recommended by the TLC showed a 19 percent saving on operating time and a 17 percent of saving on fuel consumption.
Gustavo Pinto Texteira, Commercial Director Africa & Middle East at Trelleborg, says: “Test results clearly demonstrated the effects of both correct and incorrect inflation pressures on traction performance. Professional farmers and dealers attending the event were really impressed, and Trelleborg experts were pleased to answer lots of questions on the premium performance of Trelleborg’s radial tires.”
The next Trelleborg Road Show in South Africa will be on held at Schweier Reneke, Free State, on the 25th of September. To register your attendance at Trelleborg’s next field demonstrations or for more information on Trelleborg’s 2016 Road Show, visit www.trelleborg-roadshow.com.
