Couplings Definition
What is the common definition of a coupling ?
A coupling is a device used to connect two shafts together at their ends for the purpose of transmitting power. Couplings do not normally allow disconnection of shafts during operation, however there are torque limiting couplings which can slip or disconnect when some torque limit is exceeded.
The primary purpose of couplings is to join two pieces of rotating equipment while permitting some degree of misalignment or end movement or both. By careful selection, installation and maintenance of couplings, substantial savings can be made in reduced maintenance costs and downtime.
For hose application, a coupling is a device intended to assure the good assembly or connection between hose and the counterpart on which will be made the connection. It consists of a "head" and an "exit" that most of the time meet standards. There are symmetrical connectors and/or M-F connection fittings.
It is important to become familiar with the different ways of calling fittings, dimensions, threads, ...knowing that each field of activity or industry can have its own language.

Being able to propose a reliable technical solution.
The customer implement a new installation:
Being able to advise and guide the customer in his choice, both technically and economically.
In many “hose assembly" project the axes of improvements come from the connection part (elbows, rotary unions, secured connections, different gaskets, chemical compatibility ...).
A certain level of expertise is needed at this stage.
