Trelleborg Inaugurates Expanded Silicone Solutions Facility in Bulgaria
On 29 May 2019, Trelleborg Sealing Solutions inaugurated its expanded manufacturing facility in Pernik, Bulgaria. Adding over 1,000 square meters of production and warehouse space, it allows this facility to further focus on its Liquid Silicone Rubber (LSR) manufacturing and provide an enhanced service to its customers.
Kristian Brok, President Global Operations Elastomers, says: “The expansion of the Trelleborg Sealing Solutions facility in Pernik is a significant step. It will enable continued growth of our sales of LSR products for industrial and automotive applications. It is also an important element of our strategy to offer sophisticated products based on advanced technology.”
The original facility in Pernik was opened in 2010 and construction of the extension began in 2018. The facility produces LSR solutions for automotive, pharmaceutical and sanitary equipment, as well as household electrical appliances and baby care, for example. In addition to molding, the site also has its own capabilities in tool design and making.
Advanced LSR Solutions is an area of focus for Trelleborg Sealing Solutions and the facility at Pernik works in close collaboration with the Swiss center of excellence for LSR in Stein am Rhein, Switzerland.
Alexander Kolev, General Manager of the Trelleborg Sealing Solutions facility in Pernik, says: “By adding to our manufacturing facility we are now able to demonstrate capacity that will make it possible to utilize or capabilities further and thereby to grow our business at an even higher pace. It is a significant milestone for our facility in Pernik.”
The inauguration at Pernik was attended by Vyara Tserovska, Mayor of Pernik town, and Irena Sokolova, Governor of the Pernik region along with employees and senior management from Trelleborg.
