When she’s not busy cheering on the Buckeyes, our May SuperSealer loves to hear the stories of Trelleborg team members from around the world. She discusses the drive to always keep improving, and how every challenge presents an opportunity for personal and professional growth.
Who are you?
My name is Stacy Friedman, and I am the Human Resources Manager for Trelleborg Seals & Profiles Americas.
How long have you worked in this position and what are your key duties?
I have been in this role since Pipe Seals and Sealing Profiles merged in January 2019. I oversee all aspects of Human Resources at the five sites in the Americas, which boils down to making us the employer of choice in each of our markets. This includes providing a challenging, engaging, and fulfilling work environment for all of our people.
How long have you been with Trelleborg and what do you like about working here?
I joined the Aurora team in 1998, which was long before Trelleborg acquired the site. I became part of the Trelleborg family after the acquisition in 2006, and I immediately felt embraced by our Trelleborg community.
What I love most about Trelleborg is the opportunity to work with so many amazing teams. Whether it is being on a cross-functional team at my site in Aurora or on a team with my global HR colleagues, I learn something from everyone. I think it’s very important to know every person by their name and their story, and working at an organization like Trelleborg allows me to hear so many interesting stories!
What are the key challenges you face in your job?
I’ve faced a number of challenges, but each has provided me with opportunities for personal and professional growth. Perhaps the biggest challenge has been finding a way to not only differentiate ourselves as an employer but also the best way to tell our story to potential team members. I have always said that we have a great story; we just need to make sure people hear it. We need to constantly find ways to improve our work environment, enhance our employees’ skillset, and make the job less physically demanding.
How do you think the business in your area is going to evolve in the future? How are you preparing for this?
It’s all about the people and coming up with strategies to ensure we continue growing and developing our teammates. I am especially excited about the upcoming People Excellence program, which will provide individualized training and development opportunities. I can’t wait to participate; It will not only make me better at my role and prepare me for growth, but also put me in the best position to support my colleagues on their growth journey.
What do you do in your free time?
My husband and I are recent “empty nesters”, as the youngest of our three sons just went off to college this year. This has given us a little more free time, but somehow I’ve already managed to fill it up!
I enjoy reading and learning about health and wellness trends. I also love to cook and bake. I have to maintain a gluten-free lifestyle, and I take great pride in making things that people can’t tell are gluten-free! My love for cooking and baking perfectly complements my love for entertaining friends and family.
I also really enjoy watching live sporting events, and you’ll often find me cheering on my favorite football team – the Ohio State Buckeyes (my college alma mater).
