Trelleborg acquires industrial tire manufacturer in Brazil and strengthens its global position

Trelleborg has, through its business area Trelleborg Wheel Systems, signed an agreement and finalized the acquisition of Standard Tyres Group, a Brazil-based privately owned industrial tire manufacturer.
The company is the market leader in industrial tires in Brazil and the main supplier to locally based, global original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) of material handling vehicles. The acquisition strengthens the presence of Trelleborg in industrial tires in South America and reinforces Trelleborg’s leading position globally.

The acquired business has its head office in Lorena and its manufacturing facility is located in Feira de Santana. Annual sales amounted to approximately SEK 100 M in 2014. This bolt-on acquisition is part of Trelleborg’s strategy to strengthen its positions in attractive market segments.

“Brazil has the largest material handling vehicles market in South America, with all major OEMs represented in the country. The acquisition not only provides Trelleborg with access to the OEM market in the region, but it also strengthens Trelleborg as a global supplier of solid tires to major, global OEMs. In addition, the acquisition will facilitate the expansion of sales into the rest of South America,” says Maurizio Vischi, President of the Trelleborg business area.

The transaction will be consolidated as of November 30, 2015.
