Thanks to Brawler tyres, sudden downtimes are a thing of the past

Over the years, Renewi KLOK has specialized in sorting, among other things, demolition waste.

On location along the Molenvliet road in Rotterdam, the trucks continuously come and go. It is important that the work processes can continue uninterrupted. Renewi KLOK’s Case 821F wheel loader has now been equipped with Brawler HPS Solidflex Smooth type Softride tyres. Flat tyres are now forever a thing of the past. We went to take a look on a foggy morning in January.

Renewi KLOK – formerly known as Klok Containers – was a subsidiary of the Shanks group, which recently underwent a merger and now makes up part of the new Renewi group. On a normal working day, between 300 and 400 tonnes of construction and demolition waste are brought here for processing. From Monday to Friday, work is carried out in two shifts, from 6 a.m. to midnight. On Saturday, work starts at noon. The machinery is therefore placed under heavy strain, and downtimes must be avoided as far as possible. The company’s Case 821F wheel loader, for example, is in operation for around 2,500 hours every year. We asked one of the regular drivers of the Case 821F wheel loader to tell us more: “We used to drive on ordinary pneumatic tyres, but to be honest that just isn’t an option under these working conditions any more. We kept having to stop to repair leaking tyres while the trucks were just waiting there for loading. We then tried to fill the tyres with two components in order to avoid these leaks, but that wasn’t a solution either. Thanks to Brawler tyres, we’re able to keep on working hassle-free. We chose to use so-called slick tyres because we work on a paved surface, and traction tread only offers disadvantages in such cases. I find these Brawler tyres extremely comfortable, which is definitely not an unimportant factor seeing as I spend a lot of hours behind the wheel of the wheel loader. In my experience, these tyres also wear quite evenly.”

Brawler HPS Solidflex Smooth type Softride

The Brawler HPS Solidflex Smooth type Softride tyres are designed for use in labour-intensive sectors such as construction waste, metal and scrap recycling, waste handling and mining. The rubber lining is up to 3 times more wear-resistant than that of pneumatic tyres. Moreover, the oval openings ensure better suspension during work, while the Soft Ride helps reduce vibrations. The Brawler tyres thereby protect the machine and the operator more effectively. Moreover, the load-bearing capacity is adjusted for the specific industrial vehicles used in these sectors, such as wheel loaders. Within the recycling industry, many companies work on a 24/7 basis, so it’s also important that the wheels don't overheat. Finally, these tyres also have so-called recovery capabilities. If the front tyres become rough, they can be switched out for the rear tyres, so that they become nice and smooth after a while. Thanks to the good rapport with Case importer Troost Machinehandel BV in Numansdorp, Renewi KLOK became acquainted with these specific tyres. Troost considers these tyres to be an integral part of an industrial vehicle. Thanks to Trelleborg’s Brawler HPS Solidflex Smooth type Softride tyres, they now have a proper solution for all their customers who are active in this industry.
