July’s SuperSealer is an optimist who sees challenges as opportunities. This hardworking super Swede is determined to lead the newly merged business unit toward a bright new future.
Who are you?
My name is Jonas Kling. I’m 45 and I’m the HR Director for Trelleborg’s Seals & Profiles business unit in Sweden.
When did you start this position and what are your key duties?
I joined Trelleborg in 2012 as HR Director of Sealing Profiles. As of January, I’ve been HR Director of the merged business unit. Working as part of the wider team, my key duties are to support my colleagues with issues relating to recruitment, compensation and benefits, as well as organizational development. I also support the implementation of group-wide HR policies and initiatives, together with Trelleborg’s wider HR community.
What do you like best about working here?
I have been with Trelleborg for seven years, and I’m still very much enjoying life here. Although we are a large organization, it doesn’t necessarily feel that way. For example, a lot of our decision-making is done further down in the organization by colleagues who are close to the customer and have an excellent understanding of their needs. This is quite unusual in a big multinational company. Above all, I like working with engaged, committed colleagues who are truly proud to work for Trelleborg.
What are the key challenges you face in your job?
Right now, a key challenge – or rather a key opportunity – is the merger of the two business units, Pipe Seals and Sealing Profiles, into the new Seals & Profiles business unit. We’re on an exciting journey to combine the strengths of both units and create a robust platform that will enable us to seize new opportunities and develop our business over the short and long term.
How do you think the business in your area is going to evolve in the future? How are you preparing for this?
I’m optimistic that the new business unit has a bright future ahead. However, getting there will require everyone to remain focused on our common goal and work together towards our Vision 2025. For me as HR Director, one of the major factors in our success will be being able to support the organization and its managers, and develop the organizational design and competences of our employees.
What do you do in your free time?
I usually spend my free time with my family, which includes my two children. I also have a keen interest in antiques as well as modern Scandinavian design, and enjoy fishing and golf when time allows.
