When he’s not working up a sweat on the padel court, April’s SuperSealer is hard at work driving Trelleborg forward in the Nordics and across EMEA. Read on to hear his vision for the future and why the outlook is bright from where he’s standing.
Who are you?
My name is Ali Rezaei and I’m 39 years old. I’m Sales and Marketing Director for Trelleborg’s seals and profiles in the Nordics and I also oversee automotive sales and marketing in EMEA. I’m married and have two boys aged six and nine.
What are your key duties?
In short, my core responsibility is to make sure we have a motivated and skilled sales organization that delivers a profitable growth year after year. Customer focus and an innovative mindset are the key words for us. My role is to help our team work toward a clear vision and to ensure each individual gets to play their part in achieving this goal.
In what ways does your experience help you in your role?
In my role, everything is underpinned by a good understanding of the customers’ journey and objectives. My previous experience, which includes leading positions within B2B sales in multinational organizations, combined with a solid technical background, help me to direct our efforts in order to become a business accelerator partner to our customers.
How long have you been with Trelleborg? What do you enjoy most about working here?
I joined Trelleborg in July 2018. I love the fact that I’m part of a dynamic, global company with high ambitions that are aligned with my own. If I had to mention one thing I’m grateful for above all else, it would probably be my team and colleagues.
What are the key challenges you face in your job?
I’m still fairly new to this business and still need to learn more about our markets and customers. Fortunately, I’m surrounded by experienced people with a solid knowledge of the industry, which I very much appreciate. Realizing a long-term vision requires thinking through and taking the right actions today, as well as preparing sufficiently for tomorrow. This is a challenging task.
How do you see your business area evolving in the future? How are you preparing for this?
I’m extremely optimistic: I strongly believe we’ll continue growing our market share in the Nordics. The main challenge for us as a market leader in the building and construction segment is the competition, but our technical know-how and innovative approach are what differentiate us from our rivals. We encourage “outside-the-box” thinking in all of our activities, which means our customers recognize us as a value-adding provider rather than just a supplier.
Among many other things, we are monitoring the development of sunroof seal technology in the US, with a view to possibly introducing it in Europe too. We have also recently created a pan-European automotive team to expand our footprint in selected niches within this important market – we are all looking forward to the exciting journey that lies ahead.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Like most people, I enjoy spending quality time with friends and family, and I also love traveling and exploring new places. Long road trips are a personal favorite. My favorite trip took 28 days and started in Sweden and ended in Croatia. The top location along the way? Heiligenblut, at the end of the Alpine road in Austria, was my absolute favorite.
What’s more, I’ve always been a keen sportsman, though it’s hard to find the time these days. I’m currently trying to play padel with friends once or twice a week. It’s a racquet sport originating from Mexico, in case you were wondering!
