Topside Operations, Protected by Odin

Topside operations, protected by Odin - The Intelligent Choice

From passive fire protection to floatover solutions, protecting your topside productivity takes a deep well of engineering and industry know-how. Odin by Trelleborg offers unique polymer solutions engineered with the depth and breadth of knowledge that only decades of industry-leading success in the offshore world can provide.

Odin Flexible Piping System

Technological developments have revolutionized deepwater drilling and production in recent years and the need for high performance, robust and dependable topside solutions has never been greater. In an emergency it is paramount that the deluge system delivers water where it is needed at the correct pressure, no matter the situation.

Odin Passive Fire Protection

Protecting topside equipment and structures provides time to evacuate people, close down critical equipment and for responders to gain control of the fire. Our Firestop™ material can be used for different Topside applications to ensure safety comes first.

Odin Bearings

Trelleborg bearings mainly play a role in relieving load movement or noise reduction. Our bearings are commonly used in offshore oil and gas industries – particularly in ships such as floating production storage and offloading units (FPSO) and floating LNG production and storage units (FLNG).

Odin Protection

Odin Protection protects people, structures and equipment from all types of fire and corrosion in offshore environments, including protecting the riser itself. In the demanding offshore environment Riser Protection is paramount to ensuring on-board safety.

Odin Floatover

Our comprehensive polymer solutions for the float over installation process are utilized for energy absorption, vibration reduction and movement tolerance.  The critical nature of a float over process demands only the highest performing solutions, and we spare no expense in pinpoint engineering and stringently testing our technology.

Odin Jacket

Trelleborg's jacket leg can systems are designed to encompass the sealing needs during the installation of an oil and gas platform's substructure.

Equinor is an energy company with more than 21,000 employees developing oil, gas, wind and solar energy in more than 30 countries.

In order to serve its customers, a new oil field in the North Sea, 140 kilometers west of Stavanger, Norway, Johan Sverdrup was commissioned to open in late 2019. This would become Norway’s third largest oil field, producing 470,000 barrels of oil per day during phase 1, powered using mainly hydroelectric power.

Johan Sverdrup field is around 200 square kilometers in size. At the peak of production, the field will account for roughly 30% of the total oil production on the Norwegian Continental Shelf. With accommodation for 560 people, the field consist of several platforms all linked by bridges, standing in approximately 110 meters of water, making safety of paramount importance.

Fire protection in Australia

Located in the Vincent Field off Western Australia is Maersk’s Ngujima-Yin, a floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel. The seven-module FPSO vessel’s existing carbon steel seawater deluge system had corroded over the two-years since its installation. The system required constant maintenance, cleaning and testing, and a replacement was required to reduce the long-term cost of ensuring essential fire protection.

The offshore industry is constantly innovating and increasing in sophistication, resulting in a need for equipment to be much more reliable, effective and safe. Specifically on offshore facilities, rapid fire spread is a high risk, making fire deluge systems absolutely critical. Unfortunately, there are a significant number of aging platforms and rigs across the globe still using substandard carbon steel systems, which are extremely prone to corrosion.
