Trelleborg Presents Advanced Polymer Solutions at Offshore Technology Days 2017

Trelleborg will exhibit its range of innovative offshore solutions at Offshore Technology Days (OTD) in Stavanger, Norway, in hall B on stand 2708. Products that are designed with quality, performance and efficiency front of mind will be on show, including suction hoses, passive fire protection, and sealing solutions. 

Pushing the Boundaries

Trelleborg is once again meeting future requirements with the launch of a dedicated seawater intake hose engineered specifically to meet the unique requirements of floating liquefied natural gas (FLNG) extraction facilities.

Vincent Lagarrigue, Director at Trelleborg’s oil & marine hoses operation, explains: "FLNGs offer the potential to effectively extract vast amounts of LNG for industrial and domestic use, but to do that - and ensure the LNG is transported as cost-efficiently as possible - effective cooling is crucial. This means using very cold seawater, which is extracted from greater depths and pumped in higher volumes. Our Swiline solution draws on proven proprietary Trelleborg technology to deliver a guaranteed solution in even the most demanding conditions. In addition, the new technology has the potential to significantly optimize the topside architecture on FPSOs by collecting cool water up to 1,000m/ 3,280ft below sea level."

Improving Fire Safety

As the offshore oil and gas industry continues to push the limits, improving fire safety is becoming an ever greater critical element, resulting in a growing need for higher performance solutions that are guaranteed to perform in extreme environments.

Torbjorn Pettersen, Sales Manager for Trelleborg’s offshore operation, states: “Our range of passive fire protection solutions are manufactured using our Firestop technology. The main purpose of this technology is to protect personnel and equipment by minimizing fire escalation. It provides time to evacuate people, close down critical equipment and for responders to gain control of the fire. We are dedicated to protecting people, structures and equipment in the most severe fire scenarios.”

Advanced Sealing

Trelleborg will also announce the introduction of three technically advanced perfluoroelastomer (FFKM) compounds for oil & gas applications. Developed to be compatible with virtually all chemical media and over the widest temperature range possible, the newest Isolast® formulations provide real benefits and cost advantages with optimum sealing reliability and extending service life.

In addition, with safety a priority Trelleborg delivers many grades of materials that are compliant with international industry standards and have been subjected to comprehensive third-party testing.
